Lithium Carbonate: Industrial-Grade, Battery-Grade, and High-Purity
These series are classified based on purity, impurity content, and application.
Industrial Grade: purity: Typically 99.0%-99.5%, Tolerates higher levels of impurity e.g., sodium, potassium, iron, calcium, magnesium and anions sulfate, chloride).
Application: normally suitable for industrial uses where high lithium purity is not critical, such as Glass & ceramics , Aluminum electrolysis (additive);
Battery Grade: Purity: ≥99.5%–99.9%, with premium grades reaching ≥99.95%, Strictly limits on electrochemically harmful impurities.
Application: cathode materials for lithium-ion batteries, such as LFP, NCM/NCA, LCO. Raw material for precursors.
High-purity LCE: purity ≥99.99% (4N) or higher (5N). Total impurities (heavy/alkali metals) controlled at ppm or ppb levels.
Application: reserved for ultra-sensitive applications, e.g. nuclear industry, High-end lithium compound research.
